WEIGHT LIMITS:  The league differentiates teams by weight classification in order to keep play as safe as possible, outlined below:

Middle School Open- 139lbs and up Light- 138lbs and below
U12 Open- 169lbs and below Light- 108lbs and below X-player: 170lbs and up
U10 Open- 139lbs and below Light- 80lbs and below X-player: 140lbs and up

NOTE:  Player weigh ins take place prior to each game.

If a youth player (up to and including those in sixth grade) exceeds the maximum weight limit he/she must wear red socks, which identifies that this player cannot be the first receiver of the ball and that as a tackler this player must be very conscious of making safe tackles on smaller players..

Motley have two teams each age grade; Light and Open.

New Players always welcome throughout the year. Registration will continue at practice.  You can print out the forms (see registration link on our website), fill them out, and bring them to practice. About Motley

Land Park Motley is one of Northern California’s first and foremost youth rugby programs.  We field U-8, U-10, U-12 and Middle School teams. As a founding member of NorCal Youth Rugby Association, our commitment is to preserve the history and tradition of a sport that creates friendships for life. Many Motley players go on to play rugby at CK McClatchy, Jesuit, Christian Brothers, Rio Americano, El Camino, Kennedy and other High Schools.  Many of our players go onto play college rugby, represent us in all-star selections, and have represented  the United States of America in International Matches.

Our coaches are certified, referees are certified, and we have a certified medical professional at every match.

We primarily play teams from within the Sacramento Valley and occasionally from the San Francisco Bay Area.

Jerseys are on loan for the season and must be returned.  Rugby shorts and socks can be purchased from us after the first practice starts on November 28, 2017 for about $50.00.  These are good quality Canterburry shorts that should last a lifetime.

Beginning the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving, practices are on Tuesday and Thursday from 3:45 – 5:15 PM. Beginning in January, and as daylight permits, we will start practices later in the afternoon. During December and early January, we practice on the practice baseball fields just north of the zoo. Beginning mid January, and for the rest of the season, our practice field is next to the golf pro shop in Land Park

If you can’t make registration, or missed it, come on out. There is usually still room to participate.

Bring your cleats, a pair of shorts, a t-shirt and a mouthpiece. Mouthpieces are mandatory.

We start the season in Land Park adjacent to the baseball fields and north of the Zoo.
